Hubbards Beach Campground and Cottages offers a unique coastal experience with beach access, cabins, and on-site entertainment. Recent reviews highlight improvements and a welcoming atmosphere, but some guests have reported ongoing construction and inconsistent staff service. The campground is experiencing renovations and expansion, impacting the overall experience.
Mixed experience – Great beach, but construction and tight spaces We stayed in the Lagoon (but also visited the Christmas Tree sections), and the campsites were unfortunately not level. The washroom block with showers is decent, but there is only one available, and it is a good walk away, right in the heart of the seasonal section. We had read a review from last year mentioning ongoing renovations and mistakenly assumed they were finished. However, that was not the case. There is still a lot of construction underway to add what looks like new campsites, but they aren't adding any extra infrastructure to support them (or at least complete the renovations) it will quickly become overcrowded and unlivable once full. On the positive side, the beach is very nice.
We have always enjoyed our tent sites and Beach days at Hubbard's through the years, but decided to get a cabin this year and we were not disappointed. Orchard Cottage #4 is so cozy and clean and we really wanted for nothing. As always staff were friendly and knowledgeable and always on top of any issue. They are always looking after the grounds every time we are here no stone is unturned, it's what keeps my family and I coming back year after year. So happy to have been able to introduce my grandson's to Hubbard's beach, Campground and cottages this year.
Absolutely love this campground! The beach is one of the nicest in Nova Scotia with white sand, beautiful turquoise water, and a dock you can swim out to and jump off. It's such a fun spot for both kids and adults. The campground keeps getting better every year. They're building new bathrooms and showers. They also have new machines in the laundromat. The Lobster Pot was such a great addition. We loved sitting on the deck, listening to live music, and grabbing pizza from the outdoor oven. Having the Shore Club right there is another huge bonus. It's so nice to be able to enjoy live music on the weekends without having to go anywhere. The whole campground feels safe, clean, and welcoming. We've camped in a lot of places around Nova Scotia, and this is still our favourite. We love Hubbards!
Hubbard's Beach and Campground is wonderful. Have seen so many improvements over the last few years. Brand new renovated Washrooms, Playground and beach change rooms. The beach is always kept very clean and the new Canteen there is a great addition. Great restaurant options on site with Maya‘s fish and chips as well as the lobster pot patio. Always great entertainment at the ShoreClub or the Moonshine as well as great outdoor concerts. I can’t think of a better place to have spent my last 32 summers and hope to have many more. And remember, it’s always sunny in Hubbards?
We had an amazing weekend. The house was equipped with everything we needed for our bachelorette and everybody who used the hot tub loved it. The beds were all comfortable and clean, and all the common areas were nicely decorated and there was plenty of sitting space. Highly recommend for a weekend away! We didn’t get the chance to go to the Shore Club, but it would have been a perfect walk over.
Stayed at the orchard cabin #5 - wonderful night and great stay. Full amenities and very clean, spent the day at hubbards beach. There was a fish and chips place right on the campground next to the beach. Definitely recommend the shoreclub if you’re staying over the weekend. Live music was phenomenal!
During our experience, we found the staff to be extremely unprofessional and at times discourteous toward both myself and my partner. When booking a cabin, there are numerous hidden fees that are not disclosed on the website, and the staff appear uncertain about how to apply or explain them. We booked a cabin on three separate occasions and were charged a different rate each time, which reflects a lack of consistency and proper management. On our most recent attempt, we spent the entire day preparing to go, only to be quoted three different prices within the same day. Out of frustration, we decided to turn around and go home. I attempted to call the office afterward, but my calls were repeatedly disconnected. One staff member in particular—a younger woman with glasses—was especially rude and even hung up on me during a booking call. After reading other reviews, I noticed similar complaints, and the dismissive responses from the owner only reinforce these concerns. Rather than addressing issues professionally, the replies often come across as defensive and disrespectful. This not only reflects poorly on the business but also diminishes the reputation and legacy it once may have had. As a customer, I value professionalism, transparency, and respect—especially when I am choosing to spend my hard-earned money. Unfortunately, this business did not meet those expectations, and based on my experience and the way concerns are handled, I would not recommend booking here.
We stayed at Hubbards 8/11/25. The location is nice. Beach next to the ocean can hear the surf. The young lady in the office was very nice. The picnic tables in the tent area we’re old and nasty. However, I went to shower in the evening. The water was contaminated with Arsenic. Not a big issue as I have camped at other locations that had wells with this issue. The huge disappointment was the condition of the building shower and sinks. The shower stall was wood and maybe 20” wide. The floor was wood. The painted surfaces were filthy. The sink dripped when turned off. The Fixture cassettes in the shower were backwards. The dirt buildup in the corners made me wish I would have used my solar shower on my teardrop. The clothes hooks were loose and hanging with one screw. Nasty and shame on the owner for allowing the disrepair. Wish I had taken pictures to shame them.
Just the best time ever! Our group rented a couple cabins over the long weekend and could not have been happier! The experience was superb! Laid back, nostalgic, and so much fun! The cottages are rustic but comfortable and cozy. The close proximity to the beach and Shore Club made our holiday one we won’t forget. The team at the campground were kind, responsive and went above and beyond to ensure we had an amazing stay. If you’re in Hubbards this is the place to book!!!
Such an incredible place. From the warmest welcome on arrival to glorious swims on a private beach with crystal clear water, amazing energy and food at the Shore Club to impeccable cabins - super spacious with everything you need. It’s very easy to see why people come back every year; already planning our return visit. Thanks to Luke and everyone for making our week so special.
