Really incredible place. So unique, atmosphere was great, the food was exceptional, the staff were attentive and friendly. There was a bit of a wait for a table, but that’s totally understandable because it was a Friday evening. They don’t do reservations so just plan your time accordingly, but they will get you drinks going while you’re waiting for your table…regardless worth the wait. Would highly recommended.

I used to think Canada doesn’t really have those beautiful, authentic, aesthetic restaurants. Everything was just really good - the deviled eggs, cocktails. Simple things, but done so well. The vibe is amazing too - the music, the atmosphere, everything just feels right. And the staff were genuinely lovely - professional, kind, and welcoming. If you’re in Halifax, don’t skip this place.

Very enjoyable lunch. Great menu, excellent service, good local beers on tap, cool rustic vibe. We were fortunate to get a spot right away but tables can be hard to come by and no reservations means you might have a bit of a wait, but embrace it!

My wife and I had been meaning to come to this very cool gastropub for quite some time. The building itself is handsome, it seems to be always packed full of people, and friends recommended it highly. We finally got there yesterday afternoon, just before the evening rush. On a lovely sunny breezy afternoon on the back deck of The Narrows with a fire burning in the chiminea, we had their amazing devilled eggs with white anchovies, mushroom duxelles tart, Dutch Mess with brown bread, butter and pickle, paired with a local IPA and cider. This was followed by an excellent earl grey panna cotta with one of the best coffees I’ve ever had. The service was also the best I’ve ever had anywhere in HRM. The staff are kind, accommodating, friendly, and knowledgeable. This is the best gastropub experience I have had anywhere ever! We’re coming back with friends ASAP! Do yourselves a big favour and experience this place.

We read and heard good things about The Narrows, so after a long day traipsing about Halifax my wife and I made the pilgrimage there on foot from downtown. It was worth it. Unlike most pubs, it’s in an unassuming but beautifully preserved Victorian house and easily missed. Once inside, it has the easy and welcoming ambience of an Irish pub—with service to match. The fish ‘n chips was decent (I’ve had better, but not often, and only in the UK); the caesar salad was excellent. The decor is phenomenal. Highly recommended.

This is a place you go if you want to feel a certain vibe that is very old school, cozy and really really cool while also eating a meal that looks like it has been carefully crafted just for you. The meals were delicious, the beer selection was very satisfying and the ambiance transported me back to what I would think would be the earliest days of Nova Scotia, with good people, good food and good music. I like that they don't have reservations and that you can wait with a beer in your hand and enjoy the atmosphere. Definitely one of the top experiences of Halifax. Appetizers - 9/10 Main Course - 10/10 (Chopped Hamburger) Dessert - 9/10 Beer (Stout specifically) - 10/10 This a bar/restaurant unlike others and the service was impeccable!

I had lunch here today. The place has a lot of character and is unique experience worth checking out. A lot of locals come here, so you can tell by that’s it’s worth checking out. Fish and chips were great, batter was light and crisp vs cake like I tried the fried bologna skewers and they were flavourful. From an accessible perspective staff tried to be accommodating and offered several times if I wanted a lower table which I appreciated. I didn’t see any signage in front indicating how to get to the accessible parking and entrance for this restaurant so that could be improved. Also I wasn’t sure if there was an accessible bathroom as I only saw a sign saying bathrooms were upstairs It was still a great experience, staff were friendly, offered menu suggestions and the service was prompt and they frequently checked in to see how we were doing.

Can't believe it's taken me this long to come here. One of the only places I've been where you enter and truly get transported to another place - a cozy respite from cold, desolate Gottingen street. The standing bar by the fireplace, with live music drifting in from the other room, was a comically perfect environment, I don't think I'm ever going to want to wait for a table more than at this place. Which is good because it was incredibly busy even for a Monday night. Food and drink were all delicious, and our waiter was great. What a good freaking vibe in here. A converted historic-home to pub, deep in a residential neighborhood, is like the greatest enemy of a Dartmouth crossing Boston pizza. So happy I know about this place, excited to come back.

Went to The Narrows Public House and my friends and I all ordered the fish and chips for our mains. The portions were big, the fish was nicely battered and crispy on the outside while staying flaky inside, and it came with a good amount of fries. It was a classic, comforting dish that definitely hit the spot, though it didn’t completely blow me away. The servers were also really cool and friendly, which made the whole experience more relaxed and enjoyable. Overall, a solid place for a laid-back meal with good vibes.

The establishment’s design and decor are thoughtfully curated, creating an inviting and super cozy atmosphere with a warmth that made a lasting impression. Food was excellent, complemented by outstanding service. My mother ordered the fish and chips, which she described as among the best she has ever tasted. I chose the croquettes and was thoroughly impressed. Additionally, the presence of historical books nearby provided an enjoyable distraction while we waited, which was not long. Overall, it was an amazing experience, and I look forward to returning.
